Welcome to the Beautiful G8!

[the realreal] It’s pronounced Beautiful Gate but the domain was already take so I had to improvise with numbers.

If you are curious about the what the true message of Christianity is straight from the source start here Matthew 5:3 – Matthew 7:28. It’s Jesus’s first sermon and the essential true cornerstone of what a Christian life should like. Heavy on the word should.

If that’s still too long for you to get started then the TLDR verse that piqued my interest is Matthew 22: 36-40. Jesus says if you read and live out nothing else in the Bible but live this then he’s gucci with us and why because honestly it could take our whole lives to fully understand it and live it out.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 22: 36-40

This blog is meant to be a gateway drug to the true essence of Christianity – Love. While there are so many seeds being sewn of division, those of us that choose and claim to be believers are called to be the salt and light of the world tasked with spreading love and being testimonies of Gods love for us.

The beautiful gate is a story about a miracle that happened after Jesus died at the hands of his disciples in Acts 3.

I never realized that his disciples performed miracles in his name pretty wild huh! Totally means that we are possible of performing them too if we believe. ok as i was saying …

Instead of giving the crippled man the money he was begging for they told him they’d give himJesus and it was up to the man to believe enough to let them help him up. Spoiler he did and they helped him up and he was healed. The important thing about this story is that the man had faith enough in who Jesus was to let Peter help him up. What’s likely not said in the story and usually only explained in seminary and pulpits across the world, if that Jesus had only recently died so everyone knew the true power of his name. It’s like if you are a basketball player and someone said they could help you become the next Michael Jordan we are all young enough to understand what that means and the power of his name. 50 yrs ago that name meant nothing and 100 yrs from now that name might not hold the same significance.

I’m not comparing him to Jesus but need to provide secular context so stop giving me the side eye church people.

I want this blog to be your beautiful gate content that helps you see love in this world. Some content will be religious some will be secular and that’s because in order to speak truth you have to see humanity – all of it. Jesus famously hung out with everyone much to chagrin of many during his time and eerily familiar to the ire being thrown at that level of inclusivity today.  What if we imagined a world where love wins at the deepest most sacred recesses of the universe- inside our own heart. .

I’m excited to start this journey and I hope you’ll join me.

Love,

Skye Miller
